Dr. Colleen R. Miller is an ecologist with expertise in sensory ecology, global change biology, ecophysiology and data science using a variety of wildlife systems. She has experience conducting field-based, controlled, and data-driven work on questions surrounding agricultural insect consortia, migratory and resident bird species, and larger ecosystems. In her previous position as an Institute on the Environment Postdoctoral Fellow, Colleen used data science tools to make data products and findings accessible to field scientists, managers, and decision-makers. She is also involved in several projects that summarize and estimate the effects of climate change and landscape change on natural systems, such as agricultural pests. 

Throughout her scientific career, Colleen has been committed to conducting research that uncovers how human activities impact wildlife and natural systems, with a focus on modeling those questions across broad spatial scales. Colleen received her Ph.D. in Ecology in 2023 from Cornell University. She has a Master’s degree in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Bachelor of the Arts in Zoology and German from UW-Madison, as well. Moving forward, she hopes to continue research that breaks down silos between scientists to better serve community members during the Anthropocene. She now leads biodiversity research at the research center.
